Which CBD product is best for me?: That depends! Not all CBD is created equal. We recommend experimenting with different blends in order to figure out what works best for you. The most research has been done on CBD, so CBD isolate products will have the most scientific backing as compared to full-spectrum products.
What does CBD stand for?: CBD stands for Cannabidiol, which is a naturally occurring compound found in plants from the cannabis family, which include Hemp.
Why does CBD work?: We’re still learning more about exactly how CBD works daily – however what we do know is that CBD currently interacts with your endocannabinoid system. What happens is that CBD binds to receptors in your brain (known as CB1 receptors) and help modulate those receptors so they become less responsive. This helps stop disruptions in your endocannabinoid system, as many disruptions to the system stem from it being too active! If you struggle from anxiety, for instance, than these receptors are probably being overstimulated and using CBD can help give you the relief you need by preventing the hyperactivity that is causing the anxiety. CBD also mimics serotonin, by binding and activating your 5-HT1A serotonin receptors, which likely have a lot to do with CBD’s anti-anxiety properties.
What does CBD oil feel like?: This is a great question and unique to the individual. Unlike THC, CBD is non-psychoactive, so you will not feel any mind-altering effects. When properly used, CBD oil can help you feel relaxed. In others it can make you feel sleepy. For those that have pain or anxiety, CBD oil can help ease these states when used regularly for a period of time. We’ve also seen numerous reports of mood improvement, more energy, better sleep, and relief from nausea.
Will this make me high?: No our products will not get you high! CBD is 100% non-psychoactive, meaning it doesn’t negatively impact your mind or mental process. In other words, CBD does not get you 'high' or stoned. There is no mental slowness or haziness caused by CBD.
Can I fly with CBD?: Yes. See our article about flying with CBD if you want to learn more!
Does this contain THC?: Negative! Envy Hemp currently uses CBD Isolate – which is pure CBD and contains 0% THC!
Which CBD oils have THC?: Any CBD oil that says “full spectrum” or “broad spectrum” is likely to contain THC. Full spectrum in particular will always contain THC. We recommend that you purchase a CBD isolate product if you want to avoid the risk of taking a CBD oil with THC.
Will I fail a drug test?: We cannot guarantee any specific results for a drug test. Although there is zero THC within our products, some drug tests may search for all cannabinoids, including CBD, which is active in our products.
Based on this information, if you are subject to any form of drug screening or testing, we cannot recommend that you ingest this product. Please consult with your healthcare practitioner as well as your employer or drug screening company.
Is CBD oil legal?: Yes! Thanks to the passage of the Farm Bill, Hemp has lost its status as a Schedule 1 Drug. Without delving too deeply into the regulatory environment right now, legal experts agree that the Farm Bill makes it clear that CBD is legal and here to stay.
Why is CBD legal?: It has been legal to grow Hemp (containing less than .3% THC) since the 2014 Farm bill passed, which legalized universities and public entities to grow and cultivate hemp in states like Kentucky. With the passage of the amended 2018 Farm Bill, CBD has been taken off Schedule-1. Schedule 1 drugs are considered high potential for abuse, with no recognized medical benefits. Considering that this view is rapidly shifting with CBD’s medical potential looking more tangible by the day, the reclassification is in line with the expanding body of medical research.
Do I need a prescription or medical card to place an order?: Nope! A prescription or medical card in not needed to place an order.
Can CBD oil be addictive?: No. CBD does not trigger the dopamine rush associated with addiction. Addiction is your brain’s neural pathways becoming addicted to the dopamine rush that comes from a behavior. Because CBD does not produce an excess of dopamine, it is not addictive, and you can use it without worrying about getting hooked. Plus, CBD does not bind with specific receptors in the brain itself unlike other drugs traditionally associated with addiction.
How is CBD different from marijuana?: The defining difference between marijuana and CBD is the percentage of THC. Marijuana refers to strains of cannabis that contain high levels of THC. CBD refers to strains of cannabis containing less than 0.3% THC.
What is the difference between Envy Hemp and Hemp Seed Oil?: Envy Hemp is made with the full Hemp Plant, not just the seeds. The seeds have much lower concentrations of CBD, which make them much less effective than the full Hemp Extract. Hemp Seed oil is much cheaper because of this.
Where does CBD oil come from?: CBD Oil can be derived from any plant in the cannabis family. The majority of CBD you can buy is derived from what is known as industrial Hemp, which is a type of Cannabis Sativa that is grown for its seeds and fiber. Industrial Hemp is specifically grown because of its low THC content. It is also rich in CBD. We currently source our CBD from Hemp grown by American farmers in Kentucky.
Where do you source your CBD-derived crystalline CBD isolate?: We use 100% Kentucky-grown CBD extract within all our products. Their CBD is produced in a FDA registered food-grade facility. These CBD crops are sustainably farmed on US family farms and are free of pesticides.
Is CBD legal in my state?: Envy CBD’s products are made with CBD extracted from the industrial CBD plant. This type of CBD has less than 0.3% THC and does not alter the mind like other drugs. Envy CBD is proud to offer CBD that complies with The 2014 Farm Bill because our products contain 0% THC. This is why we are allowed by U.S. Federal law to conveniently ship to your doorstep. However, it is important to note that policies and laws regulating CBD are always being updated.
What kind of testing/analysis is performed on your products?: Third party laboratories analyze all of our full-spectrum CBD extracts and supplements for cannabinoid potency, heavy metals, bacterial/microbial life, mycotoxins (fungus), and pesticides. Our isolate is tested for potency, heavy metals, and pesticides. The unsummarized results of testing for all produced batches can be found here and here.
Where to start CBD? : We recommend giving your CBD time to work. It takes time for CBD to help balance out your body. We recommend starting with a standard water-soluble tincture and using it every day for a month and recording how it helps your symptoms over time. We’ve found that the best results come from consistent use over time.
Why CBD under the tongue?: There has been some research into this. One study found that there was between a 15-25% increase in absorption when the CBD oil was held under the tongue when compared to being swallowed. While more research needs to be conducted, we see this as a positive development. We recommend you try both methods and see what works best for you
How do I take CBD under the tongue?: Easy! We recommend you take the dropper and squirt it beneath the tongue and then hold it under the tongue for around a 1 minute prior to swallowing. Compare this to just swallowing and see how you feel!
What is the body's Endocannabinoid System?: The Endocannabinoid System (ECS) is a recently discovered group of endogenous cannabinoid receptors found throughout the body. The endocannabinoid receptors that make up the ECS are located in our Central Nervous System (CNS), Peripheral Nervous System (PNS), and Immune System. Our CNS includes our brain and spinal cord, while the PNS acts as a communication network linking our CNS to the rest of our body.
Our brains contain the heaviest concentration of cannabinoid receptors, but there’s no shortage of them in our organs, tissues, glands, and more. The saturation of ECS receptors throughout our body is part of why CBD has so many uses and is so effective.
What serving of CBD should I take?: A number of factors determine your ideal CBD serving. This can include your weight, metabolism, and genetics, among others. Because each individual’s endocannabinoid system is unique, some people may only require a small amount of CBD to receive their desired benefits, while others may require much higher serving to experience the same effects.
If this is your first time trying CBD, we recommend starting with a small serving of only 10-25mg and increasing it later if desired. CBD can take time to work, so wait up to 2 hours before ingesting another serving. Some people may require a much larger serving of CBD to get the desired effect.
As a gauge, our products have been formulated to provide the average adult with a proper dose for the respective method of use, and they will have detailed instructions on using them. If you have further questions on dosages, please consult your general healthcare practitioner.
How should I store my CBD oil?: We recommend storing your Envy Hemp in a cool, dark place. It is beneficial to refrigerate it after opening, however it is not needed if you plan to consume the entirety of the tincture within a few months.
Can CBD oil go bad?: Yes and no. It depends on the type of CBD oil, and how you’re storing it. Like most cannabinoids, CBD will break down as it is exposed to light and heat. It is for this reason we recommend storing CBD in MCT in a cool, dark place. For our water-soluble CBD, we recommend that you refrigerate it if you plan on storing it for longer than 2 months. This will help to preserve your CBD!
Is it safe to take CBD while pregnant?: In short, there’s not been enough research yet to determine the full safety of taking CBD while pregnant. Studies investigating CBD consumption are almost non-existent. While we are not aware of any serious adverse effects that have been observed from taking CBD during pregnancy, we recommend that those pregnant first discuss taking CBD with a prenatal care physician.
CBD when sick?: We recommend taking the claims made by CBD manufacturers (including us!) with a grain of salt. CBD is not meant to be a cure all – nor is it explicitly meant to treat any disease. That said, using a CBD blend such as our wellness blend can be used in conjunction with a doctor approved medication. You should check with your doctor prior to using any CBD product in attempt to treat any sickness or disease.
Why is my MCT oil tincture turning pink or purple?: Coconut and/or MCT oil contains naturally occurring variations in levels of antioxidants, such as polyphenols, that can turn pink. All of our MCT oil is clear when bottled; however some bottles turn pink or purple with time when the antioxidants interact with light and/or oxygen. This does not change the quality or effectiveness of our oils. In fact, it actually verifies the high quality of our MCT oil.
Which CBD oil is the best for dogs?: Currently there has been no formal study into how CBD works with your furry companion. There is plenty of anecdotal evidence that CBD does help treat pain – but again, this is self-reported and not based on hard data. There is currently no recognized dosing chart for dogs either, which is why we recommend starting low and slow with your pooch. If you want to try treating your dog with CBD, we recommend you undertake the following:
Buy CBD that is organic. This will remove the threat of pesticides, herbicides, and other toxic compounds. Envy Hemp
Quality CBD is expensive. Be aware that higher quality=higher price. Avoid generic “Hemp Oils”, as these may be made with Hemp Seed Oil which has none of the therapeutic benefits of CBD at such low concentrations.
Ask for a certificate of analysis. Reputable CBD companies will be able to show you third party testing with the ratios of each cannabinoid present in their oils.
Opt for a tincture. It’s easier to control the dosing.
Start slowly and monitor the effects on your dog.
