Can I take CBD and go to work?

Can I take CBD before work?

CBD will not make you feel high, or drowsy and you can absolutely take it before work. In fact, we suggest taking it in the morning anyway.

The first thing we need to understand about CBD is that it is completely different from THC, which is the psychoactive molecule in cannabis that is responsible for distorting your perception.

CBD and THC are not the same!

While both CBD and THC are found in the Hemp Plant (Cannabis Sativa), commercially grown industrial hemp contains less than .3% THC, which we remove from our finished products here at Envy Hemp.

Regardless, even the .3% of THC found in full-spectrum CBD products is not enough to get you high.

THC can radically alter your memory, motor patterns, and mental state. THC interacts with your central and peripheral nervous system and inhibits the speed at which you can react, which makes it dangerous to take before work.

CBD on the other hand, does not cause any distortion, and it is completely non-psychoactive. To take it a step further, CBD blocks the effects of THC, by manipulating the endocannabinoid system to prevent it from interacting with THC. CBD also interacts with the body in a completely different way than THC does. It binds with different receptors, including those which regulate stress and anxiety.

Think of CBD as a plant-based version of Tylenol. As discussed in our article “What Does Taking CBD Feel Like?” we concluded that taking CBD can make you feel better, but not by making you feel something else. CBD can relieve underlying pain and inflammation, much like any other NSAID, without any of the psychoactive effects of THC.

Can I take CBD while I’m at work?

Once again, yes! Because CBD doesn’t have any psychoactive effects, you won’t feel anything during the day. Anecdotally, we’ve heard reports of employees functioning better at work after having taken CBD.

Because CBD has been linked to reducing situational stress and anxiety, it can function as a potent aid for those stressed by deadlines.

On the other hand, CBD is also thought to have anti-inflammatory properties, which can be great for easing joint aches and muscle pains from a hard day’s worth of work. Many have found that a daily regiment of CBD can help boost productivity during the day.

Taking CBD will not cause your to feel mentally foggy or otherwise lethargic. We know it can help reduce pain, inflammation, and anxiety which can make it easier to get through your busy day. CBD allows you to enjoy the medical benefits of the Hemp plant, without having to worry about the high associated with marijuana. Think of it as a way to accomplish what you need to accomplish, without having to take synthetic additives.

But will CBD make me fail a drug test?

CBD isolate, which makes up Envy Hemp products will not make you fail a drug test. We looked at this subject in our article “Will CBD Make Me Fail A Drug Test?”, and we concluded that it is extremely unlikely, as workplace drug tests look for a byproduct of your body processing THC, a metabolite called THC-COOH. Your body’s processing of CBD will not produce THC-COOH, but instead will produce a molecule called 7-COOH-CBD which is not tested for! You’re in the clear!

Are there any jobs I can’t take CBD before work with?

Although there is no testing provision in the Federal Government, Military members are encouraged to do further research. The USAF (United States Air Force) for example, has banned the use of Hemp, and Hemp seed products. Considering Hemp, and Hemp Seed products can contain THC, we would advise caution in this area. Although you shouldn’t be concerned if you are taking CBD isolate, you should do your due diligence when evaluating CBD brands.

Full-Spectrum CBD, for instance can cause you to submit a positive result on a drug test if you take extreme doses, as we discussed in our article on CBD and Drug testing.

How should I take CBD if I want to take it before work?

You’ve got plenty of options if you want to take your CBD before work! We recommend using a water-soluble tincture, as it allows you to easily blend your CBD into a glass of water or a cup of coffee before work.

Vaporization is also an extremely efficient way to take your CBD but may cause issues depending on your workplace dynamics. We recommend you take the safe route and add our water-soluble CBD Isolate to your morning routine.
