Are CBD Capsules as Effective as Oil?
With so many ways to take CBD, we’ve had a number of people ask us “what’s the best way to take CBD?” We answered that (and many other questions) here, and I won’t spoil the answer for you’re here!
The number one question we seem to get asked is a little bit more complex! Many people want to know: are CBD capsules as effective as the oil?
The short answer?
On their own, the bioavailability of capsules and oil is going to be very similar. Assuming that you take the capsules and the oil orally, you’ll end up with between 4-16% of the total CBD you dosed with in your bloodstream.
Capsules and CBD oil will both have to go through the GI tract and are subject to the “first-pass mechanism” where they must go through the liver to be metabolized. Both capsules and CBD oil are equally affected by this process, so in terms of strength, CBD capsules are as effective as CBD oils in terms of bioavailability.
However, CBD capsules can be more effective for other reasons.
- CBD capsules are convenient. You’re more likely to stick to a habit when it’s easy for you to do so. If you have trouble keeping consistency in your routines, CBD capsules may be better for you. CBD capsules are far easier to use than a tincture and have less potential for messy spills and wasted dollars. If the convenience of CBD capsules help you stick to a routine, they will be better overall for you than a tincture will. Anecdotal experience suggests that a more consistent use schedule leads to better results.
- CBD capsules are more precise. One of the major downsides to using a tincture is the lack of precision when it comes to measuring your dose. Even though the majority of tinctures come with pre-measured droppers, filling the dropper evenly isn’t always guaranteed, and not getting the correct dose could be affecting your results. With CBD capsules, you’ll get the same dose every time with no mess or stress, which allows you to avoid using more CBD than you need, while getting the relief you deserve.
- CBD capsules are easily portable. Throwing a tincture in your pocket isn’t always possible, especially if you lead a busy life. Capsules can easily be thrown in your pocket and taken with you, wherever you go. Capsules are especially helpful if you want to take CBD while you’re out and about.

Wellness capsules are perfect for anyone who has to get up and get out the door early. With Wellness capsules, you don’t have to take a handful of vitamins anymore. Just throw one of the orange capsule packs in your pocket and hit the road, knowing you’re covered with your vitamins and minerals.
Caffeine pills are a thing of the past. Envy Hemp Energy capsules combined 16.7mg of CBD isolate with Caffeine, Guarana, Vitamin B-12a in a vegan capsule.
The energy capsules are perfect for a morning or mid-day pick me up. If you just want straight CBD with no thrills or frills, these are for you.
If you still don’t know which to pick, remember: you can try all 3 of these and more for free with our free sampler pack. You don’t even have to pay for shipping. We suggest you try the capsules and compare them to any tinctures you may currently have and see what works best for you!
